Kevin R. Waddell, M.D., FACOG
Dr. Waddell is a board certified obstetrician & gynecologist and a Fellow in the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Professional activities also include memberships in the American Medical Association, Texas Medical Association and the Jefferson County Medical Society. Dr. Waddell is on staff at Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital in Beaumont, Texas. He is currently serves as OB-Gyn Chairman at Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital. Dr. Waddell is available for high risk pregnancy conditions, general obstetrics and gynecology.
Dr. Waddell holds degrees from Texas Tech University School of Medicine and Eastern New Mexico University. He completed his combined OB/GYN internship and residency programs at Wright State University and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio.
Sophia L. Burns, M.D., FACOG
A native of Atlanta, Ga., Dr. Burns practiced in the Houston for more than 16 years before coming to join the team at the Women's Center of Beaumont in August 2009. She received her undergraduate degree in biology from Spelman College in Atlanta, Ga. She attended Tufts University Medical School in Boston, Ma., and completed her residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. Dr. Burns is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology. Married with three daughters, Dr. Burns is fluent in both English and Spanish.
Always with the goal of providing better care for patients and continuing her education, Dr. Burns began resarching new areas such as nutrition, allergy treatments and bio identical hormone therapies. Her interest in a more holistic approach to health care has grown significantly over the past several years. Using a functional medicine approach, which addresses the whole person and not just an isolated set of symptoms, with a strong emphasis on prevention, Dr. Burns uses an integrative, science-based approach to medical care combining traditional and complementary - alternative medical services. This approach focuses on nutrition, therapeutic diets, hormonal balance, detoxification and stress-management techniques. This holistic approach leads to improved health and wellness for the patient.
Dr. Burns is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, a member of the Texas Medical Association, the International Society for the Study of Women's Sexual Health, the Pan American Allergy Society and a member of the Harris County Medical Association.
Theresa Mott, CNM, MSN
Theresa Mott, CNM, MSN, is both a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner and a Certified Nurse Midwife. A native of Beaumont, she obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from Lamar University, Beaumont, in 1989. She then went on to obtain a certification as a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner from the University of Texas SW in Dallas, and a Master's of Science in Nursing with a certification in midwifery from UTMB, Galveston. She brings with her more than 20 years of experience in women's health. Theresa believes that women deserve individualized care and someone who cares and will listen. She strives to assist clients in understanding their healthcare needs and becoming an active participant in optimal health.
When it comes to the birth of a child, Theresa believes that the experience must be respected and treasured for the miracle that it is. Her role is not only to ensure safety for mother and baby but also to assist in making the experience one that is remembered as joyful and life affirming. She believes in the family as a unit and strives to involve key members to support mom and welcome baby into the world.
Theresa is married with four children and two dogs. She enjoys yard work and travel.
